Why TERRAZZO GraniTech
TERRAZZO GraniTech is a patented, non-cementitious, granite- and acrylic resin–based continuous surface system (often referred to as a microtopping) engineered for seamless, joint-free architectural finishes. TERRAZZO GraniTech is a complete system—not a single product—built around a compatible primer + finish + sealer stack designed to perform together. It’s a high-performance microcement alternative para interior y exterior applications—including walls, floors, ceilings, bathrooms, showers, wet areas, countertops, vanities, pool decks, and pool interiors.

The 3 core reasons specifiers choose GraniTech
- Crack-Resistant & Low-Maintenance for New Construction: Patented anti-crack memory resin technology supports a monolithic, crack-resistant finish that performs better than many cement-based plasters and microcement systems.
- Hassle-Free Remodeling Without Demolition - No Permits Required: Apply over tile, drywall, cement board, concrete, and more (with proper prep) to reduce downtime, mess, and risk—boosting ROI.
- Unmatched Versatility Across Interior & Exterior Surfaces: One system for walls, floors, ceilings, showers and wet areas, countertops/vanities, cabinetry, exteriors, pool decks, and pool interiors.
Full-body performance (not just a surface coating)
Unlike surface-dependent coatings, GraniTech cures into a dense composite where mineral aggregates are locked into a resin matrix. Performance comes from the full thickness of the system, supporting even aging, strong wear resistance, and long-term aesthetics—more like engineered stone than a traditional coating.
Waterproof-ready for bathrooms, showers, and wet areas
TERRAZZO GraniTech is inherently waterproof prior to sealing, and when installed as a complete system it’s ideal for bathroom walls, showers, and other wet-area applications. Sealers are used to dial in sheen and improve cleanability and stain/chemical/traffic protection depending on the environment.
Expanded finishes for complete design packages
We also offer Monolith (resin-stone), Micromosaicy Gaia—a brush-applied finish that delivers a limewash-like look with fewer limitations than traditional limewash. View real installations in our gallery y before-and-after proyectos.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is TERRAZZO GraniTech a microcement alternative?
Yes. It delivers a similar seamless aesthetic, with a granite-aggregate + resin matrix designed for durable continuous surfaces. It is also more flexible than many cement-based microcement systems and inherently waterproof prior to sealers.
Is it waterproof even before sealers?
Yes— TERRAZZO GraniTech is inherently waterproof prior to sealing. Sealers are typically applied to tune the finish and add stain, chemical, and traffic protection for the specific use case.
Is TERRAZZO GraniTech a “waterproofing membrane”?
No. It’s a waterproof decorative finish, but it’s not a primary waterproofing/tanking membrane. Where code or exposure requires a flood-tested assembly, a code-compliant waterproofing membrane must be installed in the substrate first, and TERRAZZO GraniTech is applied on top as the finished surface.
Do I need waterproofing under it in showers / wet rooms?
Yes—in showers, wet rooms, continuously wet areas, exterior areas, and slabs on grade, waterproofing (and/or vapor management) should be addressed at the substrate level per code and exposure. GraniTech then becomes the finished seamless surface.
Can GraniTech be used in showers and wet areas?
Yes—when installed as a complete system with proper prep and the appropriate sealer build, it’s used for shower walls, bathrooms, and wet areas.
Can it go over existing tile without demolition?
In many cases, yes. It can be installed over existing tile (and other stable substrates) with the correct prep, adhesion system, and detailing—reducing demolition and speeding remodel timelines.
What surfaces can it be applied to?
Almost any smooth and stable surface! Most common substrates include concrete, cement board, drywall (in dry areas, at least level 4), and existing tile (with proper prep). For specialty substrates, a test panel and the correct build are recommended.
Can TERRAZZO GraniTech be applied directly to metal?
No. Metal must be properly cladded first (e.g., cement board / appropriate substrate assembly). Then the system is applied over that substrate.
Is TERRAZZO GraniTech suitable for exterior surfaces, pool decks, patios, walkways etc?
Yes. TERRAZZO GraniTech is UV resistant and suitable for exterior exposure when specified with the correct system build for the environment.
How thick is the system?
Typical total thickness is about 3–4 mm (~1/8″) depending on the finish and build. (Fine/Medium are thinner per coat; Microterrazzo builds thicker due to aggregates.)
What environmental conditions should we avoid during installation?
Avoid imminent rain, high wind, direct sun, and extreme temps. Don’t apply below roughly 54°F / 12°C or above 89°F / 32°C, and avoid very high humidity. (Installers should follow the latest system instructions for the exact window.)
Is this product low-VOC / low odor?
Yes—GraniTech is low-VOC and low odor when used per spec. For compliance language, reference the current SDS/TDS for the exact values and statements.
Do you install, or do you have certified installers?
We sell the system, and projects can be completed by trained/certified installers in our network (where available). This helps ensure the substrate prep, detailing, and sealer build are executed correctly.
Does TERRAZZO GraniTech change color as it dries (like microcement can)?
GraniTech is designed to be more color-stable and predictable than many cement-based microcement systems, which can shift as moisture evaporates and hydration occurs. Final appearance can still be influenced by substrate uniformity, mixing consistency, application technique, drying conditions, and sealer selection. For critical color matching, we recommend a small test panel using the full system build and the intended sealer sheen.
Is GraniTech difficult to mix (like bag + resin systems)?
No. GraniTech is supplied as a premixed, ready-to-use paste in a bucket (untinted)—not separate bags and resins requiring complex batching. To prepare it, you add pigment and a measured amount of water (typically about 6.8 oz, per your system spec), then mix thoroughly according to the latest instructions.
Is TERRAZZO GraniTech a self-leveling or floor-leveling system?
No. TERRAZZO GraniTech is a trowel-applied decorative plaster / continuous surface finish, not a self-leveling underlayment. It will follow the substrate, so the surface must be properly flattened/leveled and prepped first (as needed) using appropriate patch/leveling materials for the substrate and application. GraniTech is used to create the final seamless architectural finish, not to correct waves, dips, or out-of-level floors. Do not apply thicker than the recommended system build—overbuilding can interfere with proper curing and performance.
Is TERRAZZO GraniTech just one product?
No. TERRAZZO GraniTech offers a variety of finishes and each is a complete continuous surface system, designed to be installed as a compatible primer + finish + sealer build. Using the full system helps ensure proper adhesion, durability, cleanability, and long-term performance.
Will TERRAZZO GraniTech crack?
TERRAZZO GraniTech is designed to be more flexible and crack-resistant than cement-based systems, but no decorative finish can eliminate cracking if the substrate moves, has existing cracks that weren’t properly treated, is out of plane, vapor barriers are not established properly, is not installed properly, cure times are not respected, or overall is not prepared to the required standard. For best results, follow the specified substrate prep, reinforcement/mesh where required, and the full primer–finish–sealer system build.
How long does TERRAZZO GraniTech last?
With correct substrate preparation, proper installation, and appropriate maintenance with resealing as required, GraniTech is designed for durabilidad a largo plazo. Lifespan depends heavily on traffic level, exposure (wet areas/exteriors), cleaning chemistry, and the sealer system used. In many residential and light-commercial environments, the finish can perform for many yearscon periodic resealing as part of normal lifecycle maintenance—similar to other premium continuous surface and architectural finish systems.
Do you offer a warranty?
We do not offer an installation warranty because performance is application- and substrate-dependent, and we are not on-site to control preparation or installation. Workmanship warranties are provided by the installer (and many states require at least a one-year workmanship warranty under local contractor rules). Our responsibility is limited to the material itself: if a defect is identified at the time of opening (before application), we will replace/refund the defective product up to the purchase price. We can provide lab/test certificates upon request where available.
How do you clean TERRAZZO GraniTech surfaces (PU-sealed), and can I use a steam mop?
For routine cleaning, use a pH-neutral cleaner and a microfiber mop. Always dry dust first (microfiber dust mop/vacuum with soft head) to remove grit—grit is the main cause of dulling and micro-scratches. Avoid abrasive pads/powders and absolutely avoid “no-rinse” cleaners, which leave residue that gradually degrades PU sealers. If a stronger chemical is ever used (e.g., heavy degreaser, bleach etc), it must be immediately thoroughly rinsed off with clean water afterward and not left to dwell on the surface.
We generally do not recommend steam mops on PU-sealed continuous surfaces. Heat and moisture can accelerate sealer wear and may cause hazing/whitening in micro-scratches over time. If a steam mop is used, wait until the system is fully cured, use the lowest setting, keep it moving (no dwell), and avoid frequent steam cleaning as routine maintenance.
Pro tips: use entry mats in sandy areas, add felt pads under furniture, and wipe spills promptly for best long-term appearance.
What sealer system is recommended for microtopping and microcement-style floors and walls?
For microtopping floors and microcement-style continuous surfaces, we typically recommend 1 coat of Armourcoat Satin Sealer plus 1 coat of Matte Sealer as our standard-duty system. For floors, this is the minimum we recommend. For higher-demand applications, our max-duty option is 2 coats of Satin plus 1 coat of Matte.
For walls, the right system depends on the desired look and level of use. For a satin finish, 1 coat of Satin is our light-duty option, while 2 coats are recommended. For a matte finish, Matte can be used, but Matte only creates a weaker sealer system. In most cases, we recommend starting with 1 coat of Satin and then adding either a second coat of Satin or a Matte topcoat, depending on the desired finish.
If the walls are in dry areas outside bathrooms, we would typically recommend our wall sealers instead.
Do I need to put pads on my furniture?
Yes — and this is true for any premium floor finish. Just like you would with hardwood or polished concrete, we recommend felt pads on all furniture legs to avoid point loads. It’s a simple step that keeps your surface looking flawless for years.
Why could dark spots, bubbles, or blistering potentially appear on microcement and microtopping floors?
When installed properly our microtopping materials hold up for the long term thanks to their formulation that allows them to cure into a dense architectural surface. Any dark spots, bubbles o rblistering are usually expressions of one condition: moisture or water vapor trapped beneath the finish — not a defect in the material. Concrete transmits water vapor continuously, particularly slabs on grade, below-grade slabs, lightweight concrete and gypcrete, and slabs over unconditioned space. Bare concrete releases that vapor freely; a finished surface does not. When vapor reaches the underside of a continuous surface system and cannot escape, pressure builds against the bond line and can present as dark irregular patches, blisters or bubbles, efflorescence (white mineral salts), or delamination. This applies to every topical system in the category — microtopping, microcement, epoxy, resin, and tile alike.
Does the timing of a problem indicate the cause?
Often, yes. Issues appearing within hours to days generally relate to application and site conditions during installation. Factors such as temperature during application, cure times between coats and other factors are important. However, issues appearing months later more commonly relate to substrate conditions — batch, ratio, and cure defects declare themselves early rather than after a period of normal service. Seasonal timing can also be informative, as slabs frequently transmit more vapor in humid months than in dry or heating season. Sudden, localized damage may indicate a discrete water source such as a plumbing leak or failed sealant. Determining the actual cause on any given project is a matter for the installing contractor or a qualified professional with access to the site.
Does TERRAZZO GraniTech stop moisture rising through a concrete slab?
No. TERRAZZO GraniTech is an inherently waterproof decorative surface prior to sealing, meaning it resists water from the surface — which is why it performs in showers, wet rooms, pool surrounds, and exterior exposure. It is a decorative surface, NOT a vapor barrier and does not resist hydrostatic pressure or vapor drive from beneath the substrate. No topical decorative finish does, including microcement, epoxy, polished concrete, and tile. Vapor drive is a substrate condition and the remedy is installed below the finish, never within it. Decorative finishes rely on the preparation being performed properly and any decorative finish is only as good as the substrate beneath it.
Is substrate moisture testing required before installation?
Yes. Substrate moisture and vapor conditions must be evaluated before any primer or finish is applied, and results must fall within the limits published in the current spec sheet.
Selecting appropriate test methods, interpreting results, and determining whether vapor mitigation is required are professional judgments that depend on the specific slab, building, climate, and application. Recognized industry standards exist for this purpose. These evaluations should be performed by the installing contractor or another qualified professional with direct access to the site and knowledge of the conditions. We do not specify testing procedures and do not evaluate substrates remotely, any advice we may provide should be confirmed by the installing professional or other contractor.
Who is responsible for substrate preparation and moisture verification?
TERRAZZO GraniTech is a material supplier, not an installation company. Substrate assessment, moisture and vapor evaluation, mitigation, and preparation are the responsibility of the installing contractor, as stated in our published application instructions and spec sheet. We supply the system and provide product-related technical support; we are not on site and do not control preparation, installation, or site conditions. Workmanship warranties are provided by the installer – installers are responsible of approving existing substrate conditions and installation conditions, curing times and any other installation related factor that is important for a successful outcome.
